ABC’s hit show, The Goldbergs, has a star on their hands and that star is Beverly Goldberg. She’s sure to give Carol Brady and Claire Huxtabul a run for their money. Beverly Goldberg has solidified her place in the TV Mom Hall of Fame and her crazy antics are the reason why I aspire to be just like her. Some of her best lines demonstrate exactly why I want to be a Beverly Goldberg type of mom.
“Yeah, I’m everywhere.”
Bev is a no BS type of gal. You piss her off and she’ll put herself in front of you until you see things her way. Not to mention how she literally seems to be everywhere her children are. This reminds me so much of my mom. When I was growing up, it seemed that her and my dad knew everything that was going on in my life. Including the dramatic, crowd gathering breakup that took place in the middle of the school quad my seventh grade year. They quoted some of the things that were said and from that moment on, I knew my parents were everywhere.
Beverly Goldberg is a little obsessed with her children, but I get it. Despite how loca they are, my kids are still my little cherubs and I’d do anything to protect them. Even if that means being a crazy stalking mom like Beverly Goldberg.
“I don’t want to build her up too much but she is literally the best student that’s ever been or ever will be.”
Beverly Goldberg’s children aspire to be pop stars, rappers, film makers, and karate masters. Without any hesitation, she is right along side them cheering them on. That is exactly what a parent should do. Her son, Barry (AKA Big Tasty), has an incredible confidence that puts him in some pretty hilarious situations. Beverly there every step of the way.
Now matter what my children find an interest in, be it a rapper or karate master, I want to be the mom that stands by them, builds them up, and tells the world of their greatness. Don’t get me wrong, I in no way want to play the “my kid is better than your kid” to the extent that Beverly would go to. The never ending support system she provides is something I really admire.
“You just stay delicious snuggle monster.”
She’s said herself that she puts the ‘mother in smother’. Beverly Goldberg is a never ending supply of love. Some may call it smothering but it seems absolutely normal in my eyes. I’ll squish my girls cheeks and kiss on them until they say, “Uhhh, Mom, get off me!” That’s just how I roll. My number one goal as a mother is to make sure my children know I love them. I don’t care if I say it too much or if they get annoyed like Beverly Goldberg’s kids, THEY WILL KNOW I LOVE THEM.
Sure, Beverly Goldberg is just a TV mom but she’s a perfect depiction of a mother that would do anything for her kids. The fact that her character is based on a real person makes me love her even more. It’s refreshing to see people like her exist in this world. Foul mouth and all.
