For the past couple of days, I’ve been raving about the sweet spot of the five year benchmark. Today is no different. That epic vacation you’ve been dreaming about could happen around this time. You could develop a love for meditation and yoga, which jump starts your day in a positive way. There are so many opportunities out there.
Your Bucket List is Your Buddy
I touched on the idea of looking to your bucket list when you were thinking of your personal life goals. As you are setting five year goals, break that bad boy out and use as a guide. Is there anything on there that seems unattainable? I dare you to conquer it within the next five years. The Boof and I took our honeymoon (2 years later) in Paris, France. Not only did we fall more in love with each other, we fell in love with Paris. To say we are a little obsessed would be accurate to most people that know us. When we returned, we both added “renew wedding vows in Paris on our 10th anniversary” to our bucket list. It’s been there staring at me ever since. At the time, I created my 10 year plan, I realized within the first five years of the plan we’d celebrate our 10th anniversary. It was a little scary realizing that such a big trip was so close. Excitement shortly followed.
Don’t let the fear get to you like it almost did to me. Your bucket list is your buddy. Over the course of five years, you will be able to accomplish far more than you would think.
Another part of your personal life is YOU. How do you plan to take care of yourself over the next five years? Is yoga your “me” time? How does that fit into your daily life five years from now? Perhaps you currently practice yoga at home but would like to belong to a yoga studio. Or maybe you are only able to attend classes twice a week and you’d like to make it more frequent. Think of how you will feed yourself daily. Then look at the larger picture and decide if there are one time goals that could be added to your five year goals, such as attend a yoga retreat or something along those lines.
Think big. Think boldly.
