Working on a goal(s) or working a plan, like this 10 year plan you’ve been creating, can be a lonely process. It’s great to spend some time on yourself but to be successful, you need to pull in your support team. One of my favorite things in LIFE is to brainstorm. Sounds nerdy, but I love bouncing ideas off others. No matter how silly an idea sounds, I’ve learned it’s important to share it. You never know when your idea may lead to another idea for someone else.
Now that you have a 10 year plan mostly fleshed out, you need to round up your support team. Be selective. Be thoughtful. Over the years, I’ve learned who I should share my goals with and who I shouldn’t. The one and only quality I look for is someone with an open-mind. If I’m met with a negative reaction, I shut down and ultimately don’t share with that individual again. I know some of my goals may seem unrealistic but you’re only as limited as your beliefs. Half of the time when I make a goal, I have NO idea how I’ll achieve it. None!
There’s something that happens when we share our goals. If you are like me and make goals without knowing exactly how you’ll achieve it, the act of sharing them with someone else may lead you in the right direction. I learned a great lesson the other day. I don’t know everything and I don’t have to know everything. With a proper support team in place, I have resources. People who know things I don’t know. People who think differently than I think. People who want different things than I want. Anytime, I’m stuck and can’t think of the next step to progress, I reach out to my support team. They always point me in the right direction.
I’m here for you!
If you are reading this and cannot think of someone to be on your support team, I’d like to suggest myself. We may not have met but I’m a big supporter of people following their dreams. I want you to succeed. You deserve to live the life you desire and if you are making a plan, that demonstrates that you are willing to do the work. Email me questions, tell me your goals, or just say hi.
We’re in the home stretch or shall I say, “We are just beginning!”
