I’ll just admit it, working on myself isn’t an easy task. I have responsibilities that often take priority. Getting up in the dark to write before the rest of the house wakes up isn’t always something I want to do, especially during the Winter. Throughout the years, and especially recently, I’ve had to give myself many pep talks. Sounds silly but they work – most of the time. There have been a few mornings I have trouble getting out of bed but we all deserve some grace, right?
As we are nearing the end of the 30 day challenge to creating a 10 year plan, I want to share with you my go-to mantra. Perhaps, mantra is too strong a word but remembering this quote has helped me inch closer to my goals.
“Never give up on a dream because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.” – Earl Nightingale
This quote has helped me overcome the anxiety that attached itself to my process of creating a 10 year plan. Planning the next 10 years is daunting. I’m sure the plan I’ve created won’t fall in place perfectly. That is the one thing I’m certain about. However, with my 10 year plan in place I’m confident that no matter how far off track I get, when I want or need to find my way back, I have a trail.
Whether you want to lose 100 pounds, start a business, or buy a house, the road to your goals will always be there, it’s up to you to work on your journey today. When you have those days when you feel defeated or not motivated, take just one tiny step toward your goal. It’ll alleviate the feeling of regret tomorrow.
