Today’s exercise may be a little cheesy or far fetched for some but it is essential. Writing a letter to your future self is going to give you more clarity for your 10 year plan.
When I wrote my letter, I found that I was forgiving my past and envisioning a more intentional future. While I have always been a goal setter, I often would focus on time frames within a year, instead of thinking long term. Boy, was I all over the place! The letter to my future self allowed me to apologize for my loftiness and helped me focus on how living an intentional life will feel.
If you need help during this exercise, read over these questions to keep that pen going.
- What obstacles are currently keeping you from accomplishing your goals?
- What positive encouragement can you provide for yourself?
- Why do you want to achieve the goals?
- How do you envision you’ll feel once you’ve accomplished goals laid out in your 10 year plan?
As you are writing review the work you did during the last eight days. What specific goals will change the course of your life? How will that affect your future self? Is there anything you want your future self to know?
Once you are done with your letter, sign and date it. Tuck it away in a sealed envelope and put a date on the front 10 years in the future. Keep it close with your finalized 10 year plan once you’re done. It’ll be fun to read and see all that you’ve accomplished.
Until next time!
