Hi! Welcome to Nikki Rae Ink.
I’m Nikki Rae and this blog is an homage to living an inspired life. Living for the weekend is a thing of the past. Aprovechar el momento, chicas y chicos! (That’s “seize the moment, girls and boys” for anyone who’d rather not ask Google.) If you’ve stumbled upon this blog then most likely you are in search of being uplifted and reinforcement that anything is possible, even on a budget.
Bucket lists are the bees knees, but I’m not about breaking the bank to go swimming with one hundred year old turtles in the Great Barrier Reef. If it’s truly something worth doing and something your heart is set on doing, there is always an inexpensive way. Every day life isn’t about the bucket list, though. It’s finding the inspiration in your morning routine, the motivation during homework time, and the appreciation in balancing the budget. Follow along as I share where I find inspiration and even some of the items I’ve managed to cross off my bucket list.
Here are some bucket list items I’ve crossed off:
- See a Movie in Hollywood Forever Cemetery
- Overcoming My Fear of Public Speaking by Joining Toastmasters
- Camping at the Grand Canyon
- Running my First 5K
- Learning to Make Cheese
- Buying a House
Todo es posible! (“Anything is possible!”) Especially if you have una loca familia like mine. My two girls are just like Momma – loca (“crazy”). They changed the whole purpose of having a bucket list and taught me the true meaning of family first. (That’s our family motto. Really elaborate, huh?) The Boof (that’s the hubs) is quite the catch. He may not always be up for my crazy antics, but he always goes along for the ride.
And if you haven’t already noticed, I have wannabe bilingual tendencies. I may be a translucent beauty on the outside, but mi corazon (“my heart”) is latina all day. How did that happen? Well, I was fortunate enough to Sprout Up Brown. My stepfather’s family accepted this Guera (“white girl”) for what I am – Chata. (That’s what they call me.) Guera o Chata. Loquesea (“Whatever”). I’ll answer to either.
Stick around for tips on traveling on a dime while soaking up some family time.
What’s in a name?
I’ve used Nikki Rae Ink for the majority of my adulthood. Most of the time people assume the “ink” is a nod to tattoo ink. It’s not, mis amigos (“my friends”). Nikki Rae Ink is a writing twist on incorporated (i.e. inc.). If you were to ask my ten year old self what I wanted to be when I grew up, you’d get the same answer I might give you today – a writer. Nikki Rae Ink satisfies my writing itch and allows me to share my other Ink impressions across the web.
